A ski week with children is not the same as a ski week between adults. Lift passes, lessons, naps, snacks, wet clothes, a day when nobody wants to see snow again. After years of hosting families in Canillo, this is the plan that works best.

Canillo is the easy base

Canillo has something not every village in Andorra has: its own Grandvalira access and a village centre you can cross on foot. That means no driving up a mountain road with sleepy children in the back, and it means being able to go back to the apartment at midday if the little one has had enough.

Days on the slopes

Three days of skiing out of six is usually the right amount with young children. Mornings on the slopes, lunch and then something quiet. The Grandvalira ski school takes children from a very young age, and booking lessons for the first morning changes everything: they come back wanting to go again.

A practical detail: our free ski room means nobody carries boots and skis up to the apartment. With children, that is not a small thing.

Days off the slopes

Canillo has the Palau de Gel, the ice palace, with its rink and pool, which is the obvious rescue plan on a day of bad weather or tired legs. Add a sledging session, a walk along the valley floor and an afternoon of doing nothing, and the week balances out.

Why a kitchen matters

With children, having a kitchen is not a detail, it is the difference between a relaxed week and an expensive one. Breakfast at your own pace, dinner early, a snack whenever it is needed. Both our aparthotel apartments and our bungalows have one. If you prefer not to cook every night, breakfast is 12 EUR per person and dinner at the bungalows 25 EUR.

Practical notes

Tell us your dates and how old the children are, and we will tell you which of the two options will make your week easier.
