Canillo has something few mountain destinations offer: you can park the car on the first day and not touch it again until you leave. The village is compact, the services are in the centre and the cable car leaves from the village itself.
Mon(t) Màgic, by cable car from the village
In summer the mountain above Canillo changes character and opens the Mon(t) Màgic Family Park, with activities for all ages. You get there on the cable car that leaves from the centre of the village, so most places to stay are within walking distance.
The Palau de Gel, for rainy days
It is the big facility in Canillo and the reliable fallback when the weather turns: an ice rink and sports facilities in the centre of the village, a few minutes on foot.
Via ferratas and hiking trails
Via ferratas and hiking routes towards the high mountain lakes of the Pyrenees start from Canillo. It is one of the reasons guests come back every summer: you can walk a different route every day without driving anywhere.
Romanesque architecture, right here
The church of Sant Joan de Caselles, in Canillo, is one of the best-known examples of Andorran Romanesque. A short, rewarding stop mid-morning.
